In Ron Ehlerts tapes on building a chambers kit, When he uses the oxpho blue he says that it is very important not to dip your applicator directly from the bottle but to put it in another dish and use it from that. Could someone elaborate on why please. thanks

Although I haven't used Oxpho Blue, I have used Brownells Dicropan IM and other blueing agents so I'll make an educated guess.

When any of these agents touch the steel of the barrel or part, there is a chemical reaction which occures instantly. This contaminates the swab so dipping it back into the solution in the bottle will contaminate it as well.
Although it probably wouldn't affect the project you are using it on, it might reduce it's action on future projects.

Just a thought. :hmm:
