I've been looking for quite a while. Recently payed $550 +/- for a NIB kit.

As I recall I paid $180 for the blued kit that just required the last 5% filing and then finishing the wood.

Well, it's number 445. ;-). Got a .50 barrel for it and that was like an additional $125!

North Forks estimates are pretty close I would say. I have bought 2 of them off of this forum after years of searching. One was used but in like new condition that I got for around 500.00 the other was used in very good condition and was around 400.00. Mine both have cylinder bores which was what I wanted. The ones with removable chokes may go for a little more? Really depends on what it is worth to you. There really isn't many options when it comes to factory made single barrel muzzleloading shotguns. I absolutely love them. They are really nice looking,fairly light weight,well balanced and are a quality built gun that was made in the USA. Plus can easily be converted to a rifle in seconds with the addition of a New Englander rifled barrel. To me though this gun was born to be a smoothbore. I will probably never part with mine.

I really, really hate to buy an item the owner won't price... I'm not saying that's the case here, but in general.
Be sure and inspect the bore with a cell phone scope, or better yet run a moist tight patch down the bore to check for corrosion. I'll admit to being burned buying a smooth bore by not checking the breach end for corrosion. It took several hours to remove the rough spots.
Most sellers price an item slightly higher than what they'll take, to account for bargaining. If it pleases you, make an offer. But slow down and take your time. Nearly everytime I rush into a sale I regret it.

It's going to depend a little on the area of the country, but I'd also say Northforks numbers are probably pretty close. I picked one up on this forum about 12 - 15 years ago that was basically new for $250 and then found a brand new .54 barrel for another $150. I've used it for both upland and big game, but it still is in very good/excellent condition. I probably won't ever sell it, but with todays prices, I'd bet the combo is with every bit of $750 - $800. Mine is a later one than Stumpy's (09012) and has the choke tubes. Over the years I've taken quite a few chukars and quail with it and though the stock could probably use a little more drop, it works fine. You just have to make sure to snug your face down on the comb. I haven't ever really worked up a round ball load for it, but it shoots home cast T/C maxi-hunters well enough to take one cow elk. If you have a chance at a good one, I'd say pick it up. They'll only escalate in value....my $0.02.

Thanks for your excellent information. I was able to score a factory build in new condition for 425 at an auction. It is a left hand version which was perfect for me being left handed and all. They had several right handers at the auction that went for 200 to 300 but as usual left handed cost more. Your price list gave me the confidence I needed because I knew I was in the zone. Do you Know how much a left hander would change the values you listed?
