I bought an older used Pedersoli Mortimer 12 gauge single barrel last week. The factory vent liner is seized and I want to remove it for a thorough cleaning and probably replace it. The screw slot is pretty boogered up on it so it’s going to take some heat to do it. Trying to find the correct size online I get two different sizes depending on where I look. Dixie shows a 5/16 x 20, and other ones show M8x1.25. Does anyone know from personal experience what size it actually is? Thanks for your replies.

If there is a choice, you may have to remove the vent liner to determine the thread size. It may be worth while to contact Taylors or VTI, US distributors of Pedersoli spare parts.

Every pedersoli I own (3 rifles) use a 8x1.25mm liner.
The Kentucky I converted to flint from a bolster percussion was threaded for 8x1.25 on the bolster as well.
Vent liners are pretty cheap so why not just buy both before taking it down?
One of the used guns I got had a frozen liner that needed replacing. A properly sized drill bit and Easy-out makes short work of removing them.
You are replacing the liner anyway so no need to try and save it.

Well I finally got to do some shooting with it today using the old liner. Ignition was fast and furious! I’m not gonna stress it at the moment changing it out. Don’t fix what ain’t broken I reckon! Thanks fellas!

I don't know why Dixie lists that size but they do for many Pedersoli's. Every single Pedersoli I own takes a 8x1.25mm liner. Liners are cheap. Buy one and try it. If you can thread it in with only finger pressure then it's extremely likely it's the right thread pattern.

Could not agree more! So how did it shoot? Pictures????
Being a cylinder bore it actually really surprised me. At the moment all I have is 7.5 shot. I loaded 70 gr 3F Goex, TOW, a plastic 12 gauge shot cup, 1 1/2 oz of shot, and tow over the shot. Seriously at 25 yards it put 23 holes in a empty can of brake cleaner. Good enough for squirrels! I have some #6 shot on its way so I’ll do some more experimenting when it gets here!
