Our regular deer season opens tomorrow. It's off to the woods with my 62 cal. smoothbore flinter and my very excited 9 year old son.

He just finished the hunter safety course 2 weeks ago and will be getting first crack. :)

He shot a 110 pound doe last Saturday, our youth hunting weekend. I still can't believe it, watched the whole thing in what seemed like slow motion. :shocked2:

I'd post a pic, but it wasn't a muzzleloader kill and I'm not sure if that's acceptable or not on the forum. :winking:

We probably won't sleep much tonight, guess I'd better log off and at least try. :rotf:

Good luck and savor every minute. He may not realize it but he'll remember these hunts the rest of his life.

Raynor, best of luck. Central gun season for NC opens tomorrow (ML was this week). I'll be using my smoke pole while my daughter will be using a more modern firearm. You are right about excitement interfering with sleep.
have fun, be safe, good hunting.

Good luck to you both today. Times like this will always provide good lasting memories. Take lots of pics, you will really appreciate them in 20 or 30 years. And the grandkids will really get a kick out of seeing you guys in your younger years.

I'd like to see a pic of that doe. I know of no rule that says you can't post a non-m/l pic on the board.

Good luck, snagg

I did post a couple pics in the non-muzzleloader forum. :winking:
