Great video, good and clear. You sure didn't have a flinch, but the delay between flash and bang was long enough to take a coffee break :rotf: Also that flash seemed pretty large, that had to be more prime than 3 grains. You may need to open your flash hole, and the powder needs to be below, and slightly away from the pan. The delay, definately will effect your aim, and the flash made you blink but not flinch. That's what I saw anyway, fix the delay and accuracy will improve. Bill Hey they're just movin pictures, they belong here.

Loved it!
Nice form and follow thru and all,,,,,,,,
But that dismount! :rotf:
I could feel the "WHOOOA! WHAT THE F****!" after the gong. :applause: :haha: :rotf:

Great video. You're steady as a rock.
That was a really slow ignition.
Try less primer powder and don't fill up the touch hole with primer.
I could see you had a fuse condition there. The pan powder ignited the powder in the touch hole and it burnt like a firecracker fuse.
Keep the touch hole clear and you should get MUCH faster ignition.

Glad ya'll like the vid! Lemme ask, how much of that delay would be because I'm using 3F Pyrodex for the charge and priming (I wasn't able to find the real stuff locally....)?

I would say that ALL the delay was caused by using pyrodex. I had a friend told me it took sometimes much longer and was acompianied by a hissing sound before the gonne went bang. I am glad you are getting as good ignition as you are with the stuff.
God bless.

I didn't even think Pyrodex would work in a flinter. I guess it does... if your patient. :rotf:

Nice vid and very steady form . Thanks for sharing!

You are much more patient than I am. I would have probably been walking back to the truck to reload by the time your rifle went off. :shocked2:

You will do well shooting, once you get the right powder and setup.

Keep up the good work!

It does work but kind of slow. I watched a guy at the range using Pyrodex in a flint gun one time and it was just like the video. A Long time till the gun went off. I could not say anything as his friend was telling him about the evils of black powder and how much better the new sub stuff is. :( I did want to say something.

Nice follow through. Jezzz thats what he was saying
Lehigh...

ok I know how to post pics but this could add some flavor to this forum how to post video? nice ring echo........did you have in ear plugs?

Yep, I had in a set of plugs.... At the range I was at you fire trough a concrete culvert (I guess to restrict where rounds can go -- downrange) producing that ringing sound....

With regards to posting video, I loaded it onto my office's server (I work at a newspaper as a photographer) and linked to it there. I guess there are other ways to get videos online, but that was the easiest for me.... I'll see if I can think of any other ways....

If someone sneaks some Pyrodex in my priming horn, I would probably set the rifle down and scratch my head before it went off. For God's sake buddy.....get some blackpowder!!!!

Well, I'm trying to but nobody around here has any and I'm still trying to get up the nerve to order 25 pounds of explosives to keep in my small apartment....

I got some Triple-7 this weekend. I'll see how that works....

There are some places that will ship as little as 5 lbs at a whack. Cost you a little more per lb that way, but if storing 25 lbs is an issue, that is a solution.

Even 25 lbs will fit nicely in the box right on top of your fridge. Box is 10" by 22", and 7" tall.

Nice vid jderrick Have you tried The Great Outdoors in Cherryville for powder. With all the New Year's shooters around here they may have it. anvil

3f pyrodex explains the delay.

Dude, switch to the real stuff. You'll be amazed at the delay. Non-existent!!!

Cool vid though.

Triple-7 requires even hotter flame to ignite. You might not get any ignition at all.

Good luck.
