Nice find, I wouldn’t worry about what they would work on as a sealed tin of caps the value is as a collectable. Once the seal is broken it’s just caps.

UMC could be anytime between 1912 and 1970, so they could be corrosive, or they might not be

The "#9" might mean they are too small to fit a normal nipple. I wouldn't be in a hurry to open any.
Or it could mean that they will stay on the revolver nips without slipping off
That is the question
