A while back there was a post talking about stock shaping. I showed pictures of how I do it. This is the finished gun from those pictures.

This is my shot at a Pre Rev Virginia Smooth Rifle.

Barrel is a used 44" 62 smooth bore oct. to round Colerain. Chambers Colonial Virginia lock. Butt plate and trigger gaurd are castings taken from an original southern rifle dated to the 1760s. Patch box spring, trigger, trigger plate, side plate and pipes where hand made. Finished with Chambers stock oil. It finished out at 8.2 lbs.

Remember this?

Love the whole rifle, but the rust blue, is great. It's my favorite way to finish that lock.

That is very nice work Longsmoke, there's no doubt about it. That grin on Mr. Gobbler's face says it all.

(Not to mention that it is certainly a lot better than the many so-called "Virginia rifles" we have been subjected to lately.)
