I just recently bought a T/C New Englander 12 ga. shotgun in new condition with Rynite stock. I want to use this gun for turkey hunting this spring. My question is should I lub the overpowder wad with anything or leave it dry? I plan on using 82 grains of FFg powder, overpowder wad, 1-1/4 oz. #6 shot then overshot card. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks and have a happy holiday season.

I have a 12 Ga Pedersoli that I use for turkey hunting. I use fiber wads that are not lubed. I didn't lube them and never experienced any problems with loading. Rick

I lube my new Englander wads with a dab of Bore Butter or Moose Snot wiped around the edge. When the mood strikes me, I prepare a bunch ahead of time by painting melted beeswax/Crisco mix around the edge (don't soak a wad - makes them too heavy). It's probably entirely unnecessary, but it's what I do.

That is exactly the load I shoot. A very conventional 12 gauge load. I would prefer #5 shot, but it is never available in bags locally. :curse:

Get them in close. That is a 20 yard turkey load, at least in my cylinder-bore New Englander.
