Finally fit my underhammer chunk action to an old fast twist paper cross-patch barrel with false muzzle I've had for years to play with. Luckily it came with the sizer die the previous owner used so I get to start playing with conical bullet weights and loads, but I have a wad question. I have a bunch of wool wads of correct size and seems a wad is pretty highly recommended.....but dry or lightly lubed? Yes, I know I need to pick up some of Ned Roberts books but alas I don't currently own them and just want to play around some, don't see myself going the competition route anytime soon 🤣

Funny happenstance bumping into this topic. I've been stamping out card wads lately for the .401, the .458 and the .696 bores, and considering pulling out the wool felt to try as well. Generally I've used wads stamped from egg cartons and just never bothered with felt, but hey, I suppose I should. 'Specially seeing as it's already sitting here.
