Found this,

WANO was a powder which proved very poor in the original 1992 importation. A lot of that original powder remains unsold and likely to appear on the market at times. However, they have a new blend of WANO which came in 1999 via the Luna Corp. and which has proved to be only a fair powder below Swiss quality and lots of that is seen on the market as well.

Finally in March of 2003, WANO started shipments of their really improved powders. This later WANO does have charcoal made from the Alder tree wood. Reports are that this is giving good accuracy at moderate speeds. The Graf and Sons Schuetzen brand offered since March of 2003 powder is the new WANO. The same Schuetzen named powder is also offered with that name via several online dealers such as Schuetzen Powder Co. of Arlington TX at: www.schuetzenpowder.com

Wano is an outstanding product. I have been using it since 03. The Powder Dist. in Little Rock, Ark. started stocking it when Goex was going down hill.
I don't know where the above Info. came from. I shoot over a case of Wano each year. I heavy load it in .54s and .58s never had a problem. Many of the top shooters in the Northern Rockies use Wano. It is hard to tell the difference between it and Goex.

Yes, he is pushing Swiss. I can't believe he refers to Elephant as a good powder??? :rotf: That stuff has been of the market for 3 years. It was terrible. :shake:
This is just one guys take on powder not a tested comparison of black powders. His idea is no better than yours or mine. :nono:

You ain't kiddin'! I tried Elephant years back when I ran into some cheap at a gun show. That stuff is horrible. I'm not sure I'd be willing to trust advice from someone who said it was good powder. Maybe they had a few good batches and he got one, I dunno. I sure didn't! :rotf:

Wano Powder is a German Company, it ´s not like Swiss the powder don´t burn so hot like swiss do and has more foulings, but for things like shooting the Enfield and others guns it´s really good.
You can get it in many sizes
Pulver Müller and it´s cheaper than Swiss

I heard a rumor that Mad Max gave WANO some suggestions about how to improve their powder.
After incorporating his suggestions their product became a good product.

As for Elephant Powder being good or bad, as I remember, there were some lots of it that were fairly good and some lots of it that were very bad.
Folks tend to remember the bad for a long time.

Friend at a Heart of Texas Muzzleloading Club shoot gave me some WANO to try in my .50 T/C. Even told me the load to use to shoot one hole. 50 gr. Wano,.015 pillow ticking, .500 MeCast RB.
Yep,one hole 5 shot group at 100 yards.Gave the stuff back to him and told him I like to see how many holes I shot :bull: :rotf: :bull: Don't know where he got it.That was several years ago. Bought some of the new Schuetzen powder but have not had time to try to see if it will still shoot one hole.

had been at the range this evening and shot a little bit with the .54. I normaly use Swiss No.2 and after 20 shots i tried Wano FFg imho it´s a little bit slower than the swiss and don´t give that hard kick might be an alternative for further tests.

Being from the country where WANO is from I have to say that I use it too. Normally WANO PP in all my ML guns. It is a very good powder. It has a bit more fouling as Swiss, but the fouling keeps longer soft as the Swiss fouling, so cleaning is easier. It burns not so fast as Swiss so you would need more for the same vel, but it is cheaper. All in all a good bp.

Isn`t it amazing that I bought Swiss powder for 19 dollars a pound at Friendship and here in Germany I get charged € 29.5 for a little morethan a pound.
For me that is just a big ripoff. The same for WANO or Schuetzen. I think it was available for about $14 a pound and here in Germany they charge me €19.5 for a little more than a pound. This is absolutely :bull: !!

i shoot 40 grains of goex fff in my .40 cal. for target shooting. if i switch to swiss fff, other than the cost what changes will i see like using less powder per shot, cleaner bore or anything else?
