Peter B,
I've built a lot of kit guns. Around 30. I'm currently final shaping a Mark Silver Virginia in .60 cal. It's gone together rather nicely. I've built several of Chamber's kits and they are absolutely the best in quality, and authenticiy around. This is an earlier style Virginia, I believe James River area.
Best parts, quality. A little more money, but you know the old addage.... you get what you pay for.
Hope this helps. :hatsoff:

That Va. kit by Jim Chambers is the best one I know. it is based pretty much on the Faber rifle, a fine early rifle attributed to Virginia.See Vol.II Shumway RCA.No. 117

If I were buying one, I'd have them leave the patchbox off. The one that Jack Hubbard built for me had a tallow hole, but I'm not sure you can document the tallow hole during that period.
