Do any of you have or know of someone who would want to sell a Custom T/C Hawken. It looks just like their regular Hawken, but has blued iron furniture.
Thanks

The "Hawken Custom" was a special run of Hawkens made in the mid-90's with presentation grade wood, and all blued furniture finished to a very, very high luster, highly polished, mirror finish (no patchbox).

I traded a Marlin .30-30 for one NIB several years ago...when I opened the box and saw it up close, I put it back in the box and sold it.

IMO.....it was far too pretty to dare take in the woods which is what I mainly do, and I knew that glossy mirror finish would scratch from anything and everything that touched it...figured it would be OK for careful range use or as a wall hanger in a den but didn't have the luxury of being able to afford a rifle just for that purpose.

There was a hawken "Cougar" with silver colored furnature. saw one for 500 on gunbroker.

See T/C custom 58 thread or go back about 5 pages to your first ? Great American Rifle or ect and try click on restorationfirearms.com they say they are are a T/C custom shop also. They look way to nice to shoot. Fred

Texan...here's a post that swampman is directing towards you, apparently questioning your interest in making an investment is such a rifle...from his words it would appear to be far beneath him to own such a rifle...you'll have to explore it further to look for positive content.

I have a T/C Hawken .45 cal kit, NIB, from the 1970's, that I would like to sell to a good home. Interested? If so, you are welcome to PM me.

Regards, sse

A T/C is like an H&R, it will kill a deer. There are lots of good rifles for a little more. A limited edition Oldsmobile will never be a BMW. I have a really nice T/C Hawken with a NOS Sharon roundball barrel that has never been fired. I've owned several others and without an aftermarket barrel, they aren't very interesting. Only accurate rifles are interesting.

you ever taken a ride in a Grand National turbo? Yanks your head right off, still wont touch my 88 Dodge Shelby Daytona turbo,,,,, :rotf: fred

This is the Texan's thread and he asked a simple question.
Constructive responses to his questions are what he wants, not an individual's unsolicited negative opinions about a particular product line in general.

It's the Texan's thread and it's being high-jacked with your off topic negative comments...if you can't say anything positive to his question then it's really best if nothing is said at all...it's a basic law of human interaction

This board is no different than the one's you've recently left...people don't want unsolicited negative comments here either.

I haven't left any recently. I just don't see any point in spending a bunch of money on a so so quality mass produced rifle that isn't a replica of anything. TVM makes some pretty nice rifles for a reasonable price that are acceptable anywhere you wanna shoot. It only makes sense to progress in the hobby. That is a constructive and helpful comment.

I am inclined to agree with roundball.
This thread is about a "Custom T/C Hawken" which is not the every day run of the mill TC Hawken.

We each have our own wants and Texan is interested in this specific gun.

I consider a post which belittles the T/C Hawkens in general, in a post asking for specific information about the possible location of one model to be counterproductive.
Even my saying that I own three different T/C Hawkens and like them all is not really a responsive answer to the thread.

My responsive answer is, no, I don't know where you could get one of them.
The "Third Edition Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Values" doesn't even list the model.
This of course doesn't mean the gun doesn't exist, only that it is uncommon. :)

They T/C sent me the catlog some years ago showed a guy shooting a target type, long barrel, apt sights, I called wanting to know how to get one of those.."thru the custom shop" but they only made a few for this person and that. So Ive never seen ,one big deal, from what roundball said it sounds like a in house custom 500 or less job,did you go back to your post Great American Rifle that Resto..firearms sounds like the people to ask about finding a org, or maybe remakeing you one. fred

Yes, a special run...it seems that every 5 years TC has made some sort of special, unique TC Hawken variant for comemmorative and/or anniversary purposes...all had gorgeous presentation grade wood...some of them were:

Hawken Cougar - .45cal
Hawken Cougar - .50cal
Hawken 25th anniversary - .45 & .50
Hawken Custom - .50cal only
Hawken Silver Elite - .50cal only

They're about due for another one timewise, but their entire list of traditional style muzszleloaders has shrunk from about 18 down to the same two they started with decades ago...the Hawken and Renegade...they're the only two models still carried in their catalog. ( www.tcarms.com ).

With the market shift to modern type ML's, it wouldn't surprise me if they never made any more special Hawken runs...too bad really...while a TC Hawken is not an exact replica of a past muzzleloader, through them Thompson/ Center has done more for the resurrgence of traditional oriented muzzleloading in this country for the past 35 years than anything or anybody else has...an accurate, high quality, attractive, affordable muzzleloader for the average hunter / shooter to enjoy.

Best advice I can offer is to keep an eye out on all the different gun auctions...and post 'want ads' in various classified sections of ML forums...and I'll post about it if I happen to hear of one for sale somewhere.

:hmm: roundball, how many custom shops does T/C have Ive seen 2 ads that say they are a licenced (?) shop??? that restro firearms sure build nice rifles Im thinking of asking about asking if they would do another brand for me , dont hurt to ask,. Fred

Unless they've expanded, there is just the one custom shop at TC's Fox Ridge store at the TC plant location.
And while Fox Ridge sells the TC muzzleloaders, there isnt anything custom about them...just TC's
standard production muzzleloaders...and so far, they haven't / don't do custom work by request on muzzleloaders...the focus of the custom shop is for the Contender and Encore

Texan, I know a guy that bought one, only to find out that it doesn't fit him. I'll call him to see if he still has it, He "MAY?" let go of it!
Hang in there.

You know with the 80's and 90's custom guns from T/C you end up with some things you can't explain but love. I have the T/C .50 Express which I can find no info on. I think it was made for CAS but not sure. Most Express rifles are made for Africa so I don't get it

Any information on this rifle as well as more on other T/C customs on this thread would be cool. Someone should be able to help this guy find what he is looking for.

Good luck finding info on the rifle and please don't look at my question as a highjack I just felt that anyone who has the knowledge to help you may be able to answer my question as well
