what finish on a 1776 Jaeger?

Hello Guys
Well I have been reading the comments on Varnish. So can anyone tell me what to use on a German...Jaeger a pisor Jaeger to be exact. I am waiting for my rifle shopee Jaeger so time isn't a concern... :rotf: Well any idea?

I'd use Formby's or Minwax Satin Tung Oil Finish. After many years of fooling around with period finishes, that's what I use.

I like the finish that Jim Chambers sells. I've used it for the past 8 or 9 years with good results.
