What is belted rifling? (photo)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I unserstand this to be belted rifling. Any information about this style of rifling would be appreciated.

It is obviously designed to use a belted ball, like the Brunswick rifle, or an elongated bullet with splines, like the Forsyth rifle.

Look up England’s Brunswick rifle. It used a belted ball and was very accurate at long ranges.
