Lots of talk on the Forum re juried events - some pro & some con. I have stated before that we must each find our own personal level of "correctness" & accept that the rules for each event are set by those who do the work to organize the event & that those rules may be tighter or looser than what we think is "about right". So I have a question - if someone wanted to see for themselves what a really detail oriented period correct event looked like, what events would you suggest for them to visit? To make the list shorter, lets just consider 18th century events that are open to the general public.

I've never seen an "event" that was even close to authentic in my 35yrs of BP. A couple of friends who really care about gettin it right and i do a couple of long weekend squirrel hunt/treks each fall. But an "event", open to the public, can't see that happening. If you find one, let me know. Good Luck, Buzzard

most of the juried events I've heard of have taken place at known historical sites, Grand Portage up in Wis is one, several I've heard of at different forts n such. I'll give those guys credit, they really try to be as authentic with documentation on everything but I also think they are limiting themselves a bit in what may have been used, but of course that a whole nuther disscussion hehehe

Spirit of Vincennes is a pretty good example with very good guidelines for reenactors. I like how they explain what is ok and what is not and why.
Another halfway decent event is Mississinewa 1812. You have to send in pictures of your camp and your outfit in order to participate.
