detailed a little bit on the side plates on my fowler. decided to deepen the inlet for the trigger guard so as to allow me to reduce the depth of the stock making it a little more svelte.
shipped 120 REAL .50's to a new forum member in need.
straightened a errant Ramrod channel in that whatzit build i did sometime ago. now i can get a rr in it.
got a arm full of rifles together for a community yard sale my cousin is holding this week end. don't need them anymore.

Had a good time, burned some powder. 25 yrds, I do okay. 50 yrds, I have a 50 caliber shotgun. The problem is, you have to see the target to be able to sight in correctly. I have tried everything I can think off. I even bought an expensive adjustable diopter sight to affix to my glasses. So far, nothing works very well. I guess that why if I planned on doing any hunting, I would scope it. Nothing like being able to see what you are shooting at. Unfortunately, I was not gifted with Daniel Boone's eyesight.

I attended our local Gun Show this morning and scored the items in the picture below:

Five molds, 35 pounds of lead/alloy, the large plastic ammo can, and a .50 T/C Hawken from a kit. $285 for all. Rifle should be a shooter as-is but could use a little TLC.

Sat on the couch all day with my busted knee propped up on the coffee table readin Forum threads from as far back as 1973…

Yes, i KNOW i’m whining, OKAY?!! Six weeks of this and a couple of months to go and i can’t do stairs and my guns are down there and..

I’m FINE! It’s FINE! Everything’s FINE!!!

I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

Absolutely nothing. Fed my sourdough starter and ate some bannock. Thats about as close as I came.
Made smoke at the range and smacked the gone that several others were shooting at with their scoped modern centerfires. Shoulda heard the comments as it rang out and the cloud of smoke wafted through the line. Lol. Lots of amazed people. But alas, nothing muzzleloading.

I cleaned the bore and installed a new nipple on the Hawken from post #3264. The bore should be alright, we will find out tomorrow at the range. I also have a CVA Mountain Pistol I picked up a while back that I need to shoot.

My wife took me to the flea market and I got a steer hide for $50, some rawhide laces and a new leather belt, came home and De-greased three molds and blackened them. Going to try my hand at making some round balls tomorrow if I feel ok.

Made and installed a new solid brass muzzle cap in place of a horn cap that had come off several years ago with the previous owner. Fortunately he still had the horn cap and I was able to use it as a template for the new brass cap. I suppose solvent/oil may have penetrated the horn and loosened the glue so I drilled and pinned the brass cap for added strength and epoxied it on.

I went to my local monthly club shoot and won the annual round ball championship with my .54 flinter against a heap of cap locks . Won by 1 point Ha .
Sounds like todays shoot I was all ready to ace it ? with my snap matchlock 40 cal smooth since my records show it consistently grouping at the 55 yards OH matches I had my early flint' after ' 'Felix Werder' was my 100 yards option , My planned ride Jason wasnt able to go . last I shot the M lock was at Kopara & I got 89 by MLAIC rules . . What was your score may I ask ?.

Did you get any articles I sent If I sent any not sure now . I do have a' full match' 38 1 in18" pitch rifle . I use. My thinking being the 451 is overkill at short ranges while I've shot the 38 300 grn bullet out to 500. some saving in lead & powder but easier on the shoulder .Its rather A' Poor man's full match ' but unlike the late Gordon Gerrad's walnut stock its bedded into a reject trade gun stock instead of Gordons 451 pistol hand , same barrel maker the late lamented Tony Hawkins rifle barrel I made. It makes do with a Baker guard & a rebounder lock .Last I knew Gordons held the Lockridge Huppen Bower record with 98 ? His lock was a local trade India made small 'bar in wood' Enfield the plug a Numrich one & the mounts yellow brass per Enfield . I still have a 451 beech stocked similar but Military Match style takedown (Made join under mid band so I could case it ) Its barrel a unused Martini one that Duncan Bedford use to sell made more useing them, Though I shot at Trentham once & Bisley it also served to kill red Deer here in NZ & small game in British Columbia I once shot it in 46 below zero near Mackenzie British Columbia, & took it down the Mosley Homathko river through the coast range to Butte inlett logging camp mostly loaded for Spruce Grouse & Frankolin & Hares ect but had to brass it out with a curious Bull Moose . Not the best loading 15 grains & a ball but managed to talk it out of going for me by speaking harshly to it explaining " I eat Moose for Tiffin & Ide won a Gold at Bisley " (Lock Hup ) short range & the Donegall badge . though i was looking up his nostrils & all I really had was my axe & knife. But thankfully he thought better of it ( I was rather rude I made unkind observations as to his' looks and ancestry' ) he backed off Big' Phew '. Shot a Blackbear with it on the Canoe River upstream from Revelstoke came towards me till at 30 yards I loosed the 500 grain Sharpes Bailey & He folded. My axe & knife not needed , pretty' tinny ' (Lucky) but allways regretted it he likley never saw me but on logging roads theres only so much space & I did need meat all the expected dam levels for the Mica creek dam where logged out to save the trees flying up in flooded time . So his habitat was reduced ., The Red Deer was just for meat one time in the Uraweras NZ , my old stomping grounds when I was a culler for a time . perhaps not the useual story of a modern 451.

Ive pics to go with it Ime not now a member, I was from 1961 or so & remain the last surviveing Founder member of the Sheffield branch & wrote a LOT for BP magazine over the years member was 103 but with Children I had to let it go . but still like to feel connected though many I knew are now dead .. .OK how's that ? Regards Rudyard but I can use my UK name if your happy. Regards Me

Picked up a Euroarms. 54 caliber Mississippi rifle like the one I gave my son for a graduation present. Like new just needed to be oiled. Can't wait to get it to the range. When I checked serial numbers my son's rifle was 49904 and mine was 49912. Both may have been made on the same day. I have 4 pounds of 2F laid back and 1000 musket caps so I'll have a lot of fun at the range.
