Took my Euroarms Mississippi to the range after filing the front sight down. This was the first shot.

A friend gave me a bottle of a M/L cleaning product called "Butch's black powder Bore Shine"; I never tried it until a few days ago. I followed the instructions, three soaked patches, 6 strokes each, 3 dry patches and a spray with WD-40 and another patch to sop up the WD-40.

I brought my rifle into the house to let it sit for a few days then checked the bore with my Teslong bore scope, I was expecting to see some surface rust. This cleaning method seemed too quick and easy. What I found was the cleanest bore I have ever seen on one of my rifles, no graphite, no left-over fowling on the breech plug, even the touchhole liner looked like it had been scrubbed inside.

Townsville is located in the dry tropics of North Queensland and is usually referred to as 'Brownsville'. This year, we are having a particularly good wet season, making the conditions verdant, wet and lush. A big thanks has to go out to Scotty👍, one of our Range Officers, who volunteered today to head out into sticky wet conditions to open the range for a few keen shooters. I added some dimension to the low cloud by blowing some smoke from my .54 Pedersoli Tryon. Given the extreme humidity and dampness, I was pleased not to experience a single misfire. That moisture really gathered up around the nipple and hammer. Now, to cleaning.

Kind regards, Pete

PS Not complaining mind, a great morning out - I see what some of you Northern Hemisphere lads and ladies have been experiencing in the cold and snow. Brrrrrrrrr ......... Respect.

I'd give it a shot

Not today but on Sunday last I shot my Hawken style rifle at Butte. Was an offhand gong match at varying ranges. Lots of fun. It was a reminder that I need to adjust the hammer strike and make a new nipple wrench and make a .58 jag for it. I cried and begged so they let me use a peep sighted rifle since I'm so blind. Was no advantage for me.

ran my biathlon course again today. too busy and tried to cram it in.. Ran well but shot poorly... only two hits out of 9 plates... Time to reset...

Shot the .32 with a new patch and lube combo. Loaded much easier than what I had before. 30 gr goex ffg (weighed) Walmart plow ticking 7:1 ballistol dry lubed with .311 Lee ball. In about .5 inch at 25. Group looks a little bigger on target but it was slowly falling over as I shot it so the last two are kind of oblong holes. First clean bore shot hit way left. 1" dot 4 in the dot 6th shot went I to a 4" 50 yard gong just cause I like the sound and unlike the .58 the little gun doesn't rip the stand out of the ground on every shot at that range. Guess since it's 4:25 that was sort of yesterday Lol got to be ready for those 12 hour night shifts this week.
