What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Ordered a .45 cal .440 bag mold from Larry Callahan.

Took my Crockett Squirrel Rifle out again for a morning squirrel hunt. Only got one this time, but it was still nice to get out and walk the mountains.

Went to the range today and shot the May postal target and tested the new/old .54 half stock I bought from BigSkyRambler - 50 gr 2F and .530 ball felt like a .22 rimfire rifle - the half stock weighs 10 lbs and absorbs recoil nicely! Will start testing different loads for best accuracy.

Also ordered another 10 lbs Swiss from Grafs before the prices increase - should be good for a while now.

Got a little frustrated with how the stock finish turned out, but I went over it out in the sunlight where I could see and hit little problem areas with scotchbrite. Then a wipe down and I blended finish into the bad spots. Finished draw filing and sanding the barrel. Was able to get the color I wanted with a Jax black/distilled water mix.

I went shopping at Wally World today and took a look at the labels in the fish section. I know my Swai fish I like so well comes from Vietnam, and I can accept that as swai is not a native fish of the US. But the Salmon comes from China, the Shrimp comes from Indonesia and the Garlic again comes from China ?? We have one of the best salmon fisheries in Alaska, we have some of the best shrimp waters in the Gulf and we can't even grow our own garlic ?? The Salmon and shrimp catching and processing should be done in American waters giving American jobs to benefit American families. I may toss the garlic as China is well known to have heavy metal poisons in their soil, cadmium, mercury .... No wonder this country is slowly going down the toilet.

The Gulf of Mexico produces the best shrimp in the world. And Louisiana waters are the prime location due to our marshes and estuaries. What’s left of them.

I read that 80% of shrimp comes from China , don’t make any sense why . I stopped eating it after I learned that

Started a full stock Hawken pistol to match up with rifle build. Both are Sharon barrels in .54 I figure it would be easier to both at the same time.
