Was able to shoot my flintlock again, most of the day was spent filing and drifting sights. Last shot of the day was an exploded 2L bottle full of water exploded! Got her all cleaned up and ready for the next go round. I built this last year but it’s only the third time I have shot it. First flint too, I have lots to learn about the flintlock!

Made a loading/cleaning rod for this pistol. I've had it for over 40 years and haven't shot it for probably 25 years. Can't hit anything with it but it's due to be played with. It's an FIE and marked 45 but it's a tight fit with a. 015 patch and 433 ball.

I've entertained boring it to a smooth bore and loading with shot for small game.

Try some of that fabric I sent you. It's very nice and super thin linen. Those FIE fit the hand so much better then the CVA I've got the kentucky model. It's never been fired. Love the ramrod Mike.

I'm going through my crates so as not to forget anything for this upcoming weekends event.
Seems I usually forget something.
Friday is school day for the kids and hopefully exposure to this event will draw in new reenactors in the future and an interest in history.😁

The FIE were 44 cal. They marked them 45. On the rifles I thought they did that to make them legal for deer hunting. Never had 1 of their pistols

Took the MINO* CVA 12g out for patterning fun. Hope to introduce it to ol' Tom sometime in the next month!

CVA 12g Patterning.jpg

*MINO: Muzzleloader In Name Only. Well, in function as well; but it takes a blue ribbon in the Not Historically Correct category!

Still, with 80g of Graf & Sons FFg, an opc, 1/2 a lubed fiber wad, 1-1/4oz. #4 shot & an osc, I think it'll do the trick between 15 & 25 yards.
