This may be more appropriate for the smoothbore section, but I am interested in hunting more than anything.

What would be your first pick for a shotgun , eithe rsingel or double for hunting ducks.geese and turkey? Thanks.

A double barrel .12 with cylinder bore barrels. The cylinder bores make starting wads easier, and you can get decent patterns with them with some load development. And that second shot comes in handy sometimes.

BigBore, I'll use my 12 ga CVA single barrel and not feel too bad about it but if I were real serious about waterfowl and turkeys I'd want a 10 ga double. The most common reproduction gun seems to be the Pedersoli.

I patterned a 10 bore for a guy and I was most impressed!

I'm presently looking for a good buy in a used one. I would buy a "set" of 20 ga, 12 ga and 10 ga if I won the lottery.

I was going to get another barrel for my underhammer in 12 ga. but my lovely wife purchased a Pedersoli side by side in 12 ga.

It has chokes too! Going to use it on turkey. Not sure I'd want to put steel in it for water fowl. I know they sell shot cups for steel but I'd rather not use this gun with steel. Of course I could go to bismuth.

I use my 12 ga Pedersoli for waterfowl and turkeys, and it does just fine. But if I was going to buy it again, I would get a 10 just because. For the waterfowl bismuth is the only way to go. I use #2 for everything. Just not enough velocity for steel IMO. For turkeys I use copper plated #5 lead.

Are you using cups? I was thinking a over powder card, followed by lubed wad, shot of choice, and over shot card. Is that about right? Be interested in what loads works and types of groups from your chokes.

I use Circle Fly wads, an overpowder and a fibercushion between the powder and shot, and then one of their tyvek overshots. I use a 70 gr BP spout full of pyrodex RS and a 1 1/2 ounce lead shot measure for the shot. I am ashamed to say I have never patterned the gun, but it kills birds well. I also put a little melted natural lube on the fiber cushion wads.

You don't by chance have a link to where you get it? Tyvek? Never seen that before.

I went with Pedersoli 10 ga. double. It really handles well and is of good quality. Mine is not the adjustable-choke version. Its fixed Mod. and Imprvd Cyl. It likes full power loads too, 110 grains 2f and 1 1/2 oz. #5s for turkey.
