Muzzleloader Builders' Supply (1-479-292-8866) has a nice looking sling made for rifles without swivels. One is all leather and one has a jute strap with leather ends. They look like a must have item in my future.

Musket,

First I'd need ta find a hoss, then a women who could braid the hair without kick'n me out of the house.

I have seen such things and they smell like a hoss.

Might be a good idea, there's much worse things ta smell like.

I have seen braided slings made from (of all things) wigs...

Long black wigs (for Halloween), makes for a dandy sling...

One word of note, hair tends to hold scent, so keep that in mind...

You could use that to your advantage though, spray doe-in-heat on your hair sling and have at it...

'Course, you'll never be able to bring it into the house again, but we're men, right?

We do manly things like that...

You can make a simple sling by useing a 2" wide piece of soft leather, slit each end lengthwise for about an inch leaving at least an inch of leather from the slit to the end, push the leather through the slit at each end to form two loops these will go around the wrist and below a ferrul on the barrel, you will have to pre determine the length needed before starting.

Good idear Tg,think i will put one on my squrrel rifle. If it works good the gpr will be next

You can also make a back scabbard that protects the whole rifle. I make mine like tg's suggestion - but I sew an additional 4" piece across the center of one of the slits so it lays across the buttplate and doesn't ride up towards the wrist. I carry it in my pocket or possibles pouch until I get a deer.
