We have not selected names (or have had any hung on us) yet. I am wondering about how some folks got their handles?

I can understand the connection with names like: tipis, huntinfool, maxiball, roundball, musketman, ghost, liver eatin' johnson, longknife etc but I am curious how some of the other names came about.

"Badwind" kinda scares me!
Does "stumpkiller" really do that?
What's a "zonie"?::

Anybody care to comment?:says:

Just plain ole

And mine is left over from my high school days and my days when i was much younger, and DUMBER, running around with outlaw motorcyle clubs. Don't do that no more. :relax: Also, i picked it because of my interest in the Civil War and my Southern Sympathies. Also grew up watching the OLD westerns, back when they had GOOD tv programs, and one of them was Johnny Yuma, who was a Rebel. And, i've always been kind of a Rebel. I want to do things my way, and i usually am for what the majority are against and vice versa. But even after all that, i am really a nice guy, except when i'm mad. ::

or my other name...Makes Many.:shocking:..but that can get out of hand with this group. :nono: :shake: :nono:

The name comes from a long and bitter struggle against the forces of evil conspiring to take over the world. Centuries ago, the forces of evil began to populate the Earth with fuzzy little creatures with coal-black eyes, long bushy tails, and cute button noses. They appear innocent enough, but hiding under those cute whiskers and snuggle-soft fur are the harbingers of death, plotting to undermine the natural authority of mankind, spread disease, influence impressionable children and Democrats, all with the ultimate goal of toppling man from his place at the top of the food chain and eventually... world domination. The evil little fuzzies must be stopped! This is the time when the armies of the small caliber muzzleloaders must unite with those of the .22 rimfires in a struggle to fend off the evil-doers, eliminate the rodent menace, and bring peace and stability to the world.

don't forget the new .17 cal based on the .22 magum shell....i'll be picking one of marlins up in the near future....i have a shooters mag that had an artical in it bout making a .17 cal and the guy machined the barrel and renecked the cases and teast fired them he made one in a kimber rifle, a marlin, and a couple more....but at the time the gun mfg said unless the ammo people started to make and develope loads and ammo it was not cost efficent for then to do so....that was bout 10 -15 years ago and now there out..................bob

That little .17 cal. is fun to shoot, but won't really do anything a .22 mag won't do as well or better. That little 17 gr. bullet is really affected by wind, and believe it or not, by rain. Rain drops will knock that little bullet all over the place. Something to think about before buying one maybe.

Well just because mine is obvious I'm not going to let ya steal my thunder :haha:

I always tell people that ask me about my handle that I'm a fool for huntin' and that I like huntin' more than eatin' and you can take one look at me and see that I likes eatin'.

It's my e-mail address also I'm listed in the phone book as last name Fool first name Huntin. It shows up on the caller ID Fool, Huntin that get stuff started sometimes. I'm the only Fool in the book. LOL

I was a Contributing Field Editor for Better Beagling Magazine and wrote a monthly hunting column for a about 9 or 10 months my byline was "The Original Huntin' Fool"!

It's funny when telephone solicitors call they try to pronounce it fuel or foal anything but Fool after all how can they sell me anything if they offend me!

It backfired on me once though I called the phone company to change something on my service and the operator had a lot of fun out of me. I'd forgotten that it was in that name. When they asked what name the service was in before they could change the service. I told them my name then my wife's name and started to get irate at the operator till I remembered that it was in the name of Huntin Fool.

When we go on scouting trips or treks, I'm always the last one in my group. I'm always busy looking at trees, rocks, plants, and you name it. I'm always falling behind and being yelled at to catch up. Basicly I take my time with everything I do: getting the coffee ready, gathering wood, etc.

Mine comes from my great grandfather's (times four) commander in the mexican war of 1847. Col. Archibald Yell was governor of Arkansas and was killed in the battle of Buena Vista Mexico Feb 26 1847. My ggggrandfather lost his bother and two cousins and was wounded in the same battle.

Stumpkiller shoots a stump with his bow and arrow, his favorite target says he...

Yep. Was on a canoe-in hunting trip with a long-time best friend and my traditional bowhunting mentor. We'd hunt seperately and meet for lunch and updates. As was our custom, we'd also do some roving to keep our eyes sharp (traditional bows - no sights, cedar arrows, practice, practice, practice). He was an incredible shot - last archer to win a NYS title with wood arrows. This day I was hot. After I called and hit a stump (my favorite target) at 80 yards (the longest field archery distance), he said "C'mon "Stumpkiller", lets go hunting." It stuck.

A year-and-a-half ago he had a heart attack on his MotoGuzzi at good speed and now hunts the edges of Fiddler's Green. I shifted my interests back to muzzleloading 'cause archery still hurts too damn much.
