Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Usually I whisker the carved parts after I " finish" the carving just to see if I need to do some more scraping or sanding usually need some more cleaning up. I might do that twice and then whisker the whole gun stock . I even then find a scratch or some defect that got by me . I find cleaning up the whispering helps me look the stock over better. I don't know if this is necessary but it helps me inspect the whole stock more closely.
Agree with Len, I end up whiskering a couple of times before the finish goes on.
Part of that is because I leave the rifle in the white for a couple/few months after I have finished it - also like to at least sight it in before I finish (just in case I need to make an adjustment - nothing like trying to move a pin after it's totally finished or you notice something just doesn't look quite right and a touch more shaping may be in order).
