I just checked. You can find both soapstone and catlinite at an on line aution site.

Be VERY aware!!! MOST soapstone/talc contains Asbestos!!!

With that being said...the stuff from Montana is some of the ONLY in the world that is asbestos free. I think that some in China and maybe ONE mine in Austrailia has some asbestos free talc.

The stuff I have is from an asbestos free mine here in Montana but almost all places blast the stone which causes fractures that can make it hard to carve because the blast fractures can make your hard work break apart right as you are finishing it up

if u can find someone who has uncut welding soapstone, (what is used for marking hot steel) usualy in large blocks, thats is some pure, virtually flawless stuff, if u can find it.
