but hay 100 lbs outta last a little wile

Same thing I use :hmm: I think I'm down to only 480 lbs now give or take :haha:

Stain glass artists and suppliers ,Pure lead. My dentist, the foil off the xrays. Just a couple of spots off hand . Regards Fisher King. Old divers weight belts, or at a dive store already like ingots.

Try the phone company. As they replace old lead sheath cables you can get your hands on the scrap. I get mine from the Cable Dawgs on base since I'm in the military. I have 600 pounds or so all cleaned up and in ingots. It's pretty dirty stuff and takes some work to clean but it's nearly pure lead and it's free.

Same place a others. Mainly local scrap or recycleing yard. Got a lot of roofing and x-ray shielding once in a while. Beware all that looks like lead may not be lead. Got some babbit and pewter one time. Made beautiful jewel like bullets but they didn't shoot as well as lead.
Fox

Check your local scrap yard. I have 100lbs of old phone cable sheathing and pipes. got it at $0.50/lb. Throws some nice Minie Balls.

If those suggestions for finding lead don't pan out, you can check out plumbing supply stores.

I was working as a millwright on a construction job - shutdown years ago where lead pipe was being replaced with SS, I got 300 or so lbs, I've gone thru about 50 lbs I guesstimate. I have plenty to last me and I gave 30 lbs or so to a young feller I sold a BP revolver to so he can cast slugs for his pistol. kinda wish I hadn't done it, he can out-shoot me.

A good buddy of mine is a plumber.
He gets lbs of it, I do all the bullet casting and we split the bullets...

That's one of the fringe benefits of working there.

I get mine at the range that I shoot at. The berms are literally a gold mine for expended roundballs, minies and other conicals. Sure they are caked with Geogia clay, but I just scrub them with a wire brush before putting them in the melting pot and make sure that I flux with some parafin wax.

Try the Nuclear Medicine Department at your local hospital. Many hospitals now utilize the service of a radiopharmacy, and containers are returned the radiopharmacy. But some special order radioisotopes are delivered in containers that do not need to be returned.
This lead is pure and clean. It is worth a try to give them a call.

My wife has a stained glass business and she does restoration. Boxes of lead. Look in the phone book. With a good story most of 'em will give it to you to haul it off. Good Lead too!

is thst pure lead?

I get wheel weights from the local tire shop for free. The stick on weights are soft enough to make round balls and minies, the clip ons make good cartridge bullets.
