Where could I purchase a PC sling for a Wilson Chiefs Trade Gun (c. 1740)? I've looked on Track of the Wolf but they don't have any. Thanks.

I'm not an expert on "PC" but Mike Rowe (Caywood Guns) makes a nice looking sling from Wilde woven straps. There are some pictures on their website. I have a sling loop and a stud on my Wilson but have yet to put a sling on it. I've been looking but have not made a decision as to what is going to be functional yet also look correct on the gun. Good luck with your sling search!

mainer there is a guy , go to historical trekking .com and click on round robin and reply to forum and ask about rifle slings a fella I believe he gies by wlker somthing make some real sweat slings think he has some for what your looking for I hope and if noy you could make one out of an old belt and fold over the ends and sew them up and put a thong through and tie the thongs aorund barrel and wrist works great. bb75

I got one from THE POSSIBLES SHOP and like it..worked just fine through spring gobbler season. I had to rub the brite colored hemp or whatever it is on burnt trees so it wouldn't stand out. Figured burnt trees would be better than spray paint due to my own personal PC standard. Although it was very tempting.

I didn't see any slings on that web site. If you know how to find them there, please post.

Thanks, sse

I'm not sure a Cheif's trade gun would wear a sling, but G. Gedney Godwin (The Sutler of Mt. Misery) has F&I War & Revolutionary era slings. Dixie Gun Works has lace on.

I use one that looks like the following on the happy occasions I need both hands to drag a deer out (It's im my haversack until then):

Mine is basically just a strip of 1-3/4" leather with a slit at each end. Just a scrap piece sewn across the slit for the butt to keep it from rifing up. The upper end I loop over the barrel & the rammer keeps it in place between thimbles.

Thanks Stumpkiller, that's a great idea. That way the strap isn't catching on branches while hunting. Thanks to everyone for the help.
