I'm looking for a screw for the caplock mechanism due to it being stripped a long time ago. Does anyone know where I could find parts for this muzzleloader?

Pretty sure they are just rebranded slightly different cva parts..... The lock off mine drops right in a cva mountain rifle stock I have. I believe all those guns were made by Ardsea ( could easily be wrong) but mine does say made in Spain. Which screw is it?

After some more inspection it seems like I need an entirely new drum and nipple for my muzzleloader... Photo is aftermath of having to drill out the screw because it was fused to the drum beyond repair. (Done by a reputable gunsmith)

Why did you remove it? They may call them clean out screws but there is really no reason for them other than ease of manufacturing and I've never removed one. Drum replacement is probably going to be a completely custom ordeal. If there's enough meat I'd just tap it for the closest size plug and then never remove it again.

dito above. who ever started the 'clean out screw' thing should be flogged o_Oi would think the 'smith' would know better, but i guess he needs the work. retap and file off the screw head. never worry about it again. my .2 cents... and for free

No offence but, 'reputable' is not a word that comes to my mind in describing that level of 'gunsmithing'.

At the VERY LEAST it needs a new drum. IMHO

If you must remove a stuck screw (don't need to) I would grind the head down flush. Use a small drill bit centered on the screw. Use consecutively larger bits until you are just about touching the drum threads. You can often get the remnants of the screw out then without damage to the threads. If not you are only going slightly oversize of the screw that was in there and an easy tap job for a new screw. With a hole that size in the drum once it is tapped for a new screw, the head of the screw will be almost as big as the face of the drum.

Unless you are dealing with a muzzleloading gunsmith most of the time they won't be what you need. To all you guys that take out the "clean out screw" on your guns be aware that every time you take it out and screw it back in you are weakening the screw and eventually it will weaken enough to blow out. I have seen it more than once.

How many times must we say that because some marketer called that manufacturing plug a "clean out" screw, it is not really a functioning "clean out" screw? Had to have been someone who never cleaned a traditional muzzle loading rifle. It would have been better to have left it as a plug and removed the slot.
