Seems like the BP supply houses carry pretty much the same thing in shooting patches...the common sizes like .010", .015", .018", .020".

Anybody know any places that carry thicker precut patches like .025", .030", .035" ??

Try a piecce of your wife's flanel nightgown....

old denim pants may work.
the fabric shops typically have various all cotton denim and canvas stock.

you could possibly double up on a thinner patch also!

fwiw.

Yeah, I doubled up .015's today...just thinking I'd rather use a single patch if I could find some precuts that are thicker...I swear I thought I saw some somewhere a few years ago but can't remember where...

Bill, Try a JoAnns Fabrics or a material place locally. I have found it in .025 & .030. I will look & see what I have, as seems like I have a whole bolt of .025 possibly & if so I will never use it all & can send ya some. 95% of the time I use .015 or .016 in that range & when I fine one right, I buy the entire bolt of it. Cotton Drill cloth you can sometimes find at the material places too & it is pretty heavy as well.

I use old blue jean material from garage sales when I want to shoot patched RB in my Brown Bess. It is .025 in thickness, and lasts for several shots, as long as you keep finding the patches downrange. Oh yeah, they are obviously pre-washed when you get them at a yard sale, and they are really inexpensive.

Denim works very well, but keep a close eye on well worn denim. Sometimes it doesn't wear all that evenly and the thickness from a high wear area and a low wear area won't even be close.

Bill,

Well I don't have the .025 ticking. I looked & after going thru all of it, the thickest I have is .020. I think I traded that thick stuff off at Friendship, as I had it ? 8-10 years or so & never used it. I have a entire bolt of .020 I don't know where it came from & it is not the stuff I usually buy, so I am pretty sure this is the bolt I traded for there.

I will keep a eye out for some for ya. I run across some now & then that is heavier than normal. The issue I have always had in a fabric store is they want too dang much for the material, or at least more than I want to pay for it. When it is up there at $4 a yard & more that is a lil pricey for me.

Not to be a smart ass but if you need that big of a patch mayde you should try the next size ball. :hmm:

That makes a little more sense, since you cant just get those in incremental sizes.
