Hi,can you tell me which buckskinning book has the hunting bag patterns in it,and is their more than one pattern?thanks, squib

Right now Iam new to making bags.I have not been doing just any special time.I make any pattern I come across. So I will make any pattern. After I make a few bags,I will pick a certain time to stick to.Squib

thats book number 3. you may also try tc alberts book, recreating the 18th century shooting pouch. lots of good patterns and how to there.

I was just looking through Buckskinning III and there is a chapter on pouches by Madison Grant. While there are no patterns per se, there are a lot of photos of original pouches and drawings of different styles/types/variations and also a good write up on how to make them. He says that it is difficult to identify locations the pouches were made unless accompanied by the original rifle and that the pouches were probably not made by the rifle builder.

Book VI is the one you probably want. It has a 30 page article on bag construction, styles, supplies, sewing, patterns, etc. The same volume has a great piece on powder horn construction and decoration as well.

Thanks,I ordered the book by madison grant and I will order the buckskinning books also.thanks for the help, squib
