I have been using T/C Mag Sabots, with Hornady XTP, .430, 240 grain, and Hornady XTP, 250, 300 grain .452 bullets. I use the correct sabot for the bullet size. In some of my .50 caliber T/C, in-line ML's these sabots are hard to load on a clean dry barrel, and are very difficult to load on a second shot without wiping the bore. (even using APP & Pinnacle)(not good for hunting)I have a NEF/H&R, Huntsman and have no problem with these sabots. Obviously the T/C's have a tighter .50 caliber bore. I know of Harvester, Hornady, and MMP sabots. I have never tried them, but would like input from others who have had experience with any of these. I would think that either Hornady, or Harvester, make the sabots for T/C, looking at pictures of them. The MMP's seem different. Do any of these load easily?

I use the std traditions sabot/xtp 240gr 50/.430 combination or the hornady package #6727 50/45 240xtp/mag and *** these down a TC thunderhawk with ease.

They are tight but I have no problem with loading them once I get past the first 2 inches of the muzzle. I do use a short ramrod and once the projectile is going down the bore, I use the std length rod to finish the job. I shoot anywhere between 14-20 per session and only swab the bore between shots and this has been great for me. Accuracy is great for all of the above no plastic residue and the recorvered sabot shows good signs.

Is your problem just getting the combo start or is is rough going down the barrel?

Mostly starting the first four inches or so. Really have to put a lot of pressure on the short starter to get it to go in. I will be trying some different sabots, MMP, and Hornady to see if they load easier.
