I have in the past searched just for good Guernsey horns that have a nice white body for scrimshawing on. However here recently I have seen some horns that are just to white and perfect. Is there a way to bleach the body or acid burn it to get a whiter horn?

I doubt it. Track has some lovely white horns, CHEAP. Here's one that's a bit creamy, but the other's I've bought recently are almost entirely white - not finished yet.

These I have seen as of late are white, I mean white as snow with no color except at the tips. They almost look like powder white up to that point. I am sure that someone has found a way to artificially whiten horns for scrimshawing.
