I have a smoothbore shotgun that I
want to rifle, Do any of you good folks know who I might contact to rifle an existing shotgun barrel?

Thanks, Stu

Hey Stu, don't know for sure on this, but I just bought a horn from Cabin Creek and on his websight he talks about building barrels from scratch out of iron and rifling them in the old way by hand. The fellow's name is Brad and he might well be worth a shout. From what I understand he has a tremendous reputation for xlnt work.

I am not 100% sure, but I think The Gun Works here on the west coast makes barrels for their custom guns.

Joe and Suzi are great and you can give them a jingle...

I buy a lot from them and they are up the road from me in Eugene OR.

Here is their list of barrels on their site. I think their catalog has more.

Colerain Classic American Swamped
Colerain Early American Swamped
Colerain Edward Marshall Swamped
Colerain Fowler Octagon to Round
Colerain Fowler Rifled - 38 Inch
Colerain Fowler Rifled - 44 Inch
Colerain Jaeger Swamped
Colerain Pennsylvania Swamped
Colerain Tapered Octagon
Oregon Barrel Co. American Fowler
Oregon Barrel Co. Drop-in Rifle
Oregon Barrel Co. Fowler Octagon to Round
Oregon Barrel Co. Pistol
Oregon Barrel Co. Straignt Octagon
Oregon Barrel Co. Tapered Octagon
Oregon Barrel Co. Trade Gun Smooth Bore
Oregon Barrel Co. Trade

I think TGW bought the Oregon Barrel Co.

So true, Rifles build higher psi's than shotguns. So barrel thickness is a primary safety concern.

Stubert,
I would contact Ed Rayl, tell him what you have and what you want. He will tell you if it should be done or not and if so he can do it.
