Hello,

Does anyone know who would be willing to rifle a smoothbore barrel?

Thanks
K

Yes, contact John Taylor on this forum. He has a rifling machine.

Give Ed Rayl a call, he's a custom barrel builder, and he just rerifled an old original that I had. His number is 304-364-8269, and his address is Box 91, Gassaway WV. 26624 Bill

Many smoothbores have rather thin walls and are not designed for the pressures many rifles develop. Adding rifleing not only makes the barrels thinner because of the groove depth, but the corners of each farrow (groove) create highly stressed zones called stress risers.

Don't be too suprised if you don't get many takers on this task if your barrel wall is less than .180 thick. :hmm:

Sound advice, maybe I will have two barrels, one snmooth and one rifled.

You might consider adding a barrel liner that could then be rifled.
