I got over to the 3rd annual Southern Longrifle Show in Williamsburg VA today. Met a whole bunch of real nice folks. There were a ton of original and contemporary rifles on display. I got to handle somwhere around 25 original guns. Way too much fun. It continues tomorrow if anybody can make it I would highly recommend it.

Sorry for the crappy pics. I didn't take a whole lot of pics as I just got too distracted gawking and talking. I'll try to explain who's who in the pictures and I apologize in advance if I get something mixed up.

This is Dennis Glazeners display.

These next two pics are from unknown (to me) makers. I just lost track of who was who at this point.

As I said, I met a whole lot of real nice folks and every single one that I got a chance to speak with was glad to share info and tips on whatever it was they were producing. I had a long conversation with Mark Thomas about a beautiful belt axe he had made but I forgot to get a pic of it. Dang! Thanks all!

Yup, sorry you couldn't make it L.E. It was a real nice show. I was really surprised at the number of originals there. There were a few real beauties!

Williamsburg is the spot to be. When you arrive there you can feel the electricity of Colonial History in the air. I have spent alot of time there over the past 15 years and never get enough of it. Thanks to Wallace Gusler we all are lucky to have the Rifle Shop there to attend and see the handmade in person. Fess Parker did more for longrifles than anyone and the Wallace Gusler did the rest- he took the Hollywood image and turned it into an industry for many shops and builders. I am proud to own a couple of his early rifles and accoutrements. Back in the early 90,s I asked John Bivins who he thought was the best rifle maker, and without pause he said Wallace Gusler that he taught him everything that he knew about how to build a longrifle. They were good friends for years. Whenever you are in Virginia make a destination- you will not be dissapointed-The Great Pinyone
