Hi all,
I was watching a couple of Mark Bakers videos and he was wearing a very plain winter hat. Looked to be of wool and seemed to have ear flaps. I think this type hat would fit my personna pretty good. Anybody know about making or buying a hat like this?? It has also been sugjested I wear a Canadian cap but I'm not sure a common man such as myself would wear one.

Thanks

For the Michigan area a french voyagers hat would be appropiate for most periods up to the civil war era. Or you could make a simple fur hat by fastening a fox or coon fur over a base ball hat with the bill cut down. Not period correct construction but quite easy to make. :idunno:

Baker calls his a "workman's cap". I just read it in one of his books. Don't know if that is the proper term or not but maybe it will help in your search. :idunno: Good luck.

I've seen this style on Ebay from time to time under Longhunter. (Clyde, hope I haven't overstepped any boundries). JP
