Wolf Ear Caps

Good Day;
Since the winter season is approaching, (16 above last night) I have been thinking about constructing a wolf ear cap.
Found a couple of blanlets on ebay for a good price then got thinking, is this the correct color? Should I stay with White, Red, Blue, etc..
Has anyone constructed these types of caps? Any suggestions on material and construction would be appreciated.

The "Mountain Man's Sketchbook" by James and Kathryn Wilson has a page devoted to the 'wolf ears' or blanketing capsThe artist Miller (ca. 1837)shows some in his drawings. Apparently common colors were white, grey, rose or blue.
