Women and flintlocks

Hello, I am moving from F&I into fur trade era with my persona and have a question. I love shooting flintlock rifles and am interested in knowing if it is pc for women to carry flintlocks for that era?

Of course - women had to know how to shoot and load flintlocks to defend themselves on the frontier - now if you are portraying a townie or someone not on the frontier - perhaps not so much

In 2005, Muzzle Blasts had a series of articles written by John Curry about women of the early frontier. The October 2005 issue featured "Women of the Frontier Pt. III" under "Wilderness Writings" starting on pg. 11. There are numerous historical accounts given of courageous women defending their families and homesteads from marauding bands of Indians and other hostiles with firearms (these were, of course, flintlocks). These pioneer women were not to be taken lightly!

When I first moved here a court case came up where a woman had laid out her husband with an iron skillet and he died 2 weeks later from complications. She was acquited because of a history of domestic abuse.A formidable weapon indeed!
