Just thought I would post a shot of a lid I carved on today. It's about 98% finished.

Wick, That is some beautiful carving. Is it a random pattern, or a copy of something else?
 
That's one of the most stylish patchbox carvings I've ever seen! I saved it to my files for future inspiration. Thanks for the pics. It's gorgeous.

Looks very similar to the box on Albrechts, Edward Marshall rifle. If not that...at least an inspiration from Christian's Spring?

This is going on a Christian's Spring Edward Marshall styled rifle. The gun is a "in the white" Tip Curtis build. I am doing the carving, engraving, and finish. When I started designing the carving, I intended to go close with the original, which I thought was a little simplistic. I was wrong. Whoever carved the Marshall gun was a design genious. I could not match his style, so I combined some of his basics with my style of carving.
