I'm happy to report that the event was a success in spite of poor attendance. (We advertised everywhere: 2 newspapers, 5 websites.) The weather cooperated too as a storm front passed, leaving us with a delightfully cool and pleasant day. If memory serves, the guns were evenly split between flint- and caplocks, with 2 smoothies (one was a smooth rifle) and one unmentionable modern gun present. The 15 targets, which were devilishly challenging given the light and distance, were typical of what you'd find on a trail/woods walk: split the ball on an axe, cut the string, cut the pencil, etc. The winner hit 10, I hit 7, and the smoothbore shooters, who were highly experienced, managed only 2 (smooth rifle) and 0. Btw, the unmentionable rifle shooter got 2 using patched RB's. So far as I could tell, everyone had a great time and were asking when we'll do it again.
