Here in Michigan it's been a a cold snowy winter. The club I do most of my shooting at has an 8 week winter league for rifle and smoothbore scored seperatly, with a different primitive skill each week for tie breaker, every other week a paper tie breaker target,Plus campfire cooking that cant be beat, All for 5 bucks.
The first week I went out and buried my car before I even got to the range and havnt been able to make it back till today. Tie breaker was two shots at a paper target and I drilled both beautifully then went on to the walk where I hit the grand total of 2 out of ten shots :shake:
But That's the most fun Ive had all winter in these parts ( working midnights don't help)
Well theres always whats left of the trade gun round robin.

I too have had a BED few times out this year. Could hit nothing yesterday or today. Dry balled both days. Swabbed with .45 in a .50 today. I am not that old?? I head back out soon and see if I can get the hang of it again.

You lucky duck!!! I used to have that kind of fun when I lived in Indiana. Every winter our club had a shoot that they called "Footprints In The Snow" that included a camp out, a couple of delicious meals, woodswalk, etc. This was in Southern Indiana where we didn't usually have really bad snows and we could get in and out of our range with no serious trouble. Those winter shoots were delicious experiences that I really do miss since moving to Texas. Enjoy them while you can.

At least you made smoke, that's something. Up here by Gaylord you need snowshoes to get off the beaten path. We've had over 150" so far and it's been too cold to spend much time standing still. I still haven't gotten very good at loading with my mittens on.

we usually get 120" a year and so far NADA. DROUGHT. Forest fires next month if no relief. I start hiking already as forests be closed soon. Jan-Feb are usually or best snow months for water shed and forest protection. Gonna get ugly! :eek:ff (kinda, means no woodswalk here soon) :(

When it finally hits 70 degrees in the Northwoods all you southerners will have been charbroiled well done for a month.

Here in Indiana we have had 53" of snow so far this year. The most snow ever and one of the coldest Winters on record. I haven't had a chance to make smoke for a couple of months. Arctic temperatures are forecast for this weekend so I probably won't try this week either.

This cold weather has given me time to get some rifle building done. Even put some handles on a couple of knives. I don't know what you are complaining about Jackpine, I don't have any trouble loading my mittens into the barrel. Oh mabey you didn't mean that like that!

High yesterday -3 with 35mph wind and snow, this morning it's a balmy -34.
I can't wait for summer, hope it's on a weekend this year! :rotf:

Never been to MI but hailing from IN as a 5 yr old....I seem to recall in all the visits to relatives that IN has only 2 weeks of nice weather a year, we never did hit em :idunno:

In AZ the shade works! :blah:

Sorry about all that snow, we told them we didn't order it and forwarded it over to your side of the lake. You must have tunnels dug to the sauna. At least we can still shoot over the snow and not through it. :haha:
