I used some kind of suede cowhide. Its fairly stiff.....Right now its in its flat stage until I find some waxed linen thread.....I was wondering how to make the leather waterproof? or somewhat water resistant and at the same time sort of age the buff colored suede?...............Thanks............Bob

They always say never use oil or grease on suede, but they never say why. Probably because it won't look like suede anymore. If you can live with that, grease it. That will also darken the color a lot.

What LM said - old suede will get matted down with use anyway - make your own time honored mix of tallow and beeswax or for good commercial mix I can heartily recommend Montana Pitchblend - just put in on in a THIN coat at a time and let dry between coats - a couple of coats at most should be all you need......
BTW - outside of some nasty, modern methods leather can at best be made water repellent...over time re-application will be needed to keep your leather at that level...

just use shoe polish rub it on in places that would get the most use or rubbed the most let it dry and lightly buff it will make rough leather look old and used.
