Would like to engrave...

a brass Powder horn. The standard cylindrical type. I have never done anything like this and welcome advice on starting points and method,s. Thanks much. SM

Start by drawing your design on paper. Get it as good as you can to suit your taste, if you can’t draw it you won’t be able to engrave it. Then do it on a practice piece of brass to learn how to sharpen your graver and keep a even depth of cut. When these look good to you do the powder container.

Look for a brass kick plate for a door. Will yield lots of practice plates.
