If you were having a fowling piece made, primarily for waterfowl and turkeys as I am,would you have the barrel jug choked? or possibly just choked about 10,000th.? Or left cyl bore? The barrel is 50 inches long,16ga.,and Ed Rayle will have it finished soon.

Thoughts?Comments? Mike,et al.?

If you're going to use it for waterfowl and turkeys I'd put around .025 to.030 jug in it. You'll be able to kill turkeys out to 40 to 50 yards with it. Altho I've had little chance to hunt water fowl I'd think this extended range would be good for killing web footed creatures too. I'd also like to point out that with that barrel length it may shoot fairly tight paterns with out a jug. The only way to know is to build it , then take it out to the pattern board and spend several weekends with it.
Not all jugs are created equal, let me know if you need a good jug man.

I might...if you know a good "jug man" I'd appreciate the contact info, thanks

Thank you,Mike.

I just talked with Lowell Tennyson, and he is scheduled to put in a thirty thousants jug choke as soon as Ed gets the barrel finished.I'll see Ed next week at the Lake Cumberland Longrifle Show up at Jamestown,Ky. He'll have my 16ga double barrels there,so I'll be able to "pressure" him a little to get the 50" barrel done real soon :winking:.

Thanks again!
