WANTED Wrought Iron Brackets for Hanging a Rifle

Used to have a local blacksmith for suchlike but he has moved away. Have another rifle I'd like to hang up. Do not want anything looks like it came from Walmart or Target. Need to be able to mount on a lath and plaster wall.

Have you searched Etsy? I saw a few there, most are flat bar J-hooks, might have been some that had forge marks on them but it's been a while.

I just made two four-gun wall mounts with split rails and wood pegs.

I got these at Hobby Lobby. I had to open the hook radius to fit the gun, and added felt padding, but they look nice for the price. You can always mount them to a board, then anchor the board to the wall for a stronger mounting on plaster.

Her is a pair of rams horn gun brackets I just forged for a listmember last week. They have felt where the gun sets to protect the stock. They are forged from 80 year old iron. If you are interested in a pair of these, PM me please.

I have this pair of hangers. They depict a rifleman loading his rifle. They are spring loaded to hold the gun securely. Sorry for the blurred pic I had to zoom and couldn't hold steady. $30.00 for the pair shipped.

If you're a bit handy they are really not that difficult to make. Some flat stock from the tractor supply store or Lowes a hack saw hammer and something to wrap the curve around when forming the hangar, a drill and bit for the screw holes, you can get as fancy as you want on the finials. And you made them.

Settled on just using wood dowels inserted and glued in the wood. A side benefit is that by making the dowel longer you can put two guns on one pair of dowels. Plus after being stained they literally disappear, and they don’t scratch the guns.

Agree, price can be an issue. A large part of the price I quoted for mine was for postage which has increased ridiculously in the past year.

Yours are cheap compared to most of what you see online.

pony shoes, drill n countersink the heals on 2. then weld the other 2 on, glue on leather or felt. age with paint. at least one drywall screw in stud when mounting.
