Thompson Center Bought from S&W

Haven’t seen this on the forum yet today. My apologies if this is a duplicate post. Looks like Gregg Ritz has purchased T/C from Smith & Wesson. Looking forward to seeing new rifles from T/C.

I'm glad to see someone purchased T/C, however they were not specific as to how they were going to honor the past. I would love to see them make sidelocks again, however they may just forcus on modern stuff like the more recent T/C inline models.

Last time I spoke to S&W about parts for the T/C sidelocks, they advised me they sold them off.

Glad to see they are back, waiting patiently to see if it will be beneficial to us.

More inlines they will say will shoot 500 yards……not getting excited over this….

How much would you be willing to pay for a new US made TC hawken or renegade? I would wager that they would have to charge $200-300 more than an equivalent Pedersoli. How many are buying at $1200-1500?

Although as I think about it why would they be that expensive. Barrels should be cheaper to make than modern stuff. The stocks could largely be made with CNC equipment and the locks are could probably be manufactured using a cast backing plate and mostly MIM parts these days.

A local gun shop employee told me that imports like Pedersoli are subject to large import tariffs. If true, this may explain some of the large price increases we’ve seen.

Variations on the Encore & maybe Contender platforms would be my guess. And if there's any muzzlers they'll almost assuredly be of the kind we don't talk about here. And probably be a year or few down the road before even that happens. And stay on good terms with your bank if you think you might want to buy one.

Believe half what your gun store employees say.

Do keep in mind that's the same prick that was entrusted with carrying on the company some decades ago who then cashed in and sold it to S&W. While TC was under the umbrella of the investment firm that owns S&W it was gutted. From the release that was made when they stopped making and selling TC branded items the only thing they had left to sell was what intellectual property remained as the equipment used to produce TC arms products was also used to make S&W arms products and being retained.

Yep. I am going to apply for position as chief shooter/tester!

Word is they will make a Bolt action model rifle. Have no idea about anything else

Here we go,

I doubt Jim Kibler has to worry about new competition. or any other ML producers. TC part 4 will be all about inlines and break opens.

We should all reside where it makes sense. Other things enter in.

Why the hell would a new TC produce new side locks when 9 months out of the year you cant get caps for them. Bad business model. Ya, Im gonna pay $900 that i cant shoot.
Now, if they also produce caps then that would make sense.
And I am a flinter, but original TC sold far more percussion than rock locks.

I think I’ll just keep my Original Thompson Center Hawken.

Mine, bought in 1974, was damaged in house fire in 2014. I wish TC, the old TC, was still around. Back in the day i could have sent it back to them for restoration.
