First I will have to find my book. With my moth eaten memory at my age it may take a while.
I know what you mean. At 32 I’m starting to slip a bit from where I once was both physically and mentally.

Nope, just rode hard and never put away, wet or otherwise. All my friends like me....wait, I don't have friends anymore. Well my dogs like me!I thought you were 80 or something.
I can remember 32 clear as a bell but can't remember where I put a screwdriver 30 seconds ago.Well, I can tell you for certain that at 77 you can't even remember 32!
That is the correct rear sight for Carolina guns ordered with them. Crude but effective.I’m intrigued too.
Where could I get info on the paint! Thanks! Good photo.Got in this beauty back from Clay Smith:

It’s one of Clay’s dandy Type G Carolina trade gun. Takes 24 balls to the pound. Historically correct red oxide (rust) based paint. 48” long and weighs just north of 6 lbs. balances beautifully and the rear sight makes it a great round ball gun.
We had a slight issue with the paint not being cured properly but Clay fixed it right up. Standup guy and I can’t wait to get this back on the range!
