Finally got my forge going a week or so ago and made this blade. 1084 steel, curly maple handle and suede leather sheath. The patch pouch is Salmon leather. Made these for @deerstalkert for a trade we did.

Thad is an extremely talented guy. He mad two powder measurers that are works of art.
 
I was today years old when I learned salmon skin could be put to use as leather.
And it’s incredibly tough and easy to work. Very little if any odor, you have to hold it to your nose and it smell like smoked salmon. I got a couple of sides in a trade I made with an ALRF member in Alaska about 2 years ago. Still have some left from various projects, wish I had more.
