I recently saw a genuine T/C Hawken with a factory marked barrel indicating 1-66" twist. I never knew they made such a thing. I would assume that they shoot as well as my Green Mountain barrel did...

When Thompson Center first made the Pennsylvania Hunter which was their first .010 inch cut rifled 1/66 barrel, I bought one (probably 1990). If I remember the rifle cost $335.
I was hoping it would group better than my TC Hawken. It didn't for whatever reason. My buddies CVA Hawken would much tighter groups at 100 yards with 90 grains of 2f than both TC's. Sent it back to TC. They said nothing was wrong with it. I sold the Pennsylvania Hunter barrel to a fellow but told him to try it out before paying me. He brought it back. I still have that barrel minus the breech plug, sights and rib. Needless to say, I was soured on TC's 1/66 after that. It probably needed lead lapped.
I bought a Green Mountain Drop in later and never looked back. I could outshoot the CVA's then.............Bob

Were one to peruse say 20 years' worth of catalogs they would see that TC added dedicated models with round ball barrels to meet the requirements of certain states BP hunting seasons. They also had what I'll call specialty variants and models they offered that changed often/annually several of which had round ball barrels over the years. And as the OP mentioned, once they opened the Fox Ridge custom shop on could be ordered for just about everything they offered.

I would like to run across one of the various target models with a round ball barrel. Some of those say they had deep cut rifling in the description rather than that sometimes-troublesome shallow rifling.
