You can take your pieces to a Jeweler and have them plated.

Do it yourself with this stuff. It is real silver because I’ve noticed it tarnishes in time.

Caswell sells a brush on electroplating kit (uses a little power supply with alligator clips) you dip in the liquid and brush it on. Easier than fitting some odd back strap to your revolver

The best I can tell it is much like original Colts that had silver plated grip frames. The very few Colts I’ve had the opportunity to inspect closely were thinly plated like this product did for the one pictured. Often the plating is only in the protected areas. Note that the plating on this well worn 1849 Colt is tarnished and much worn.

I used a product similar to that Liquid Silver on a couple of mine (Nushine brand, I think). Because it's a chemical reaction instead of electroplating, the silver layer is extremely thin and wears off pretty quickly. Looks good, though.
