Thank you all for the feedback. What would you all suggest for a Fowler? Cost is a (sadly) a consideration.

If you are portraying a militiaman, may I suggest looking for a Fowler instead? No French muskets of that type were even in the colonies in 1775, and most Besses were in the hands of the British. A civilian type of Fowler would be correct, and might be easier to find. If you really want one of the above then go for it, but other option are historically accurate and available.

Hello.

As someone who has done Battle Road for years, a fowler would be a good choice. They were ubiquitous here in Massachusetts in 1775. This would be more accurate than any short land pattern or the '66 or later Charleville.

Unfortunately muskets are one of the harder pieces of kit to get right due to the limited options out there, the majority of folks field with pedersoli/miroku short lands or Charlevilles.

1763 Charleville woudn’t have been used at battle road, neither would a second model brown Bess. I would be looking for a long land Bess or Fowler or parts gun. A Kibler Fowler would be an excellent choice.
